I am Timmy Berne, a music artist photographer
I am a London-based artist photographer, specialising in artist, act and band photography for album or tour promotion, and general marketing including for social media, website and press releases.
I also shoot live gigs, music events, and festivals.
The key to successful artist photo shoots is good planning, and being able to connect with artists
Artist photography is an essential part of connecting with fans and building a community around the act.
But it’s not easy to get right … and band promoters tell me that a lot of artist photography doesn’t quite nail it. If a re-shoot is required, this can be a drain on the marketing budget and create issues for busy schedules.
Successful artist photography needs to capture the essence of the artist, and the factors that draw the engagement with the fanbase.
This requires planning on a number of factors, including shoot location and environment, composition framing, positioning and expression, wardrobe, and other factors beyond this.
It also requires the artist to be themselves and feel at ease - and so the photographer; their method; and how they build rapport with the artist is critical to getting this right.

I’ve been a successful wedding photographer since 2013 - and have been extensively published across major international wedding blogs and magazines, including Rock My Wedding, Love My Dress, and Rock N Roll Bride.
I’ve more recently got into shooting artists, musicians, gigs and festivals. It’s a really complementary skillset - good planning, empathy for your subjects, quick timing, sensitivity to capturing the moments that matter, and instant rapport building.
